Our office represents clients directly and also provides support to attorneys who need assistance with appellate work, State Post-Conviction Cases, or other research and writing projects or who wish to contract appellate work to an outside attorney. We also work with attorneys who wish to simply turn an appeal over to a highly qualified and competent outside counsel.

Lisa Malmer Johnson has practiced law in Indiana since 1992. She worked on capital (death penalty) cases for several years, and helped achieve negotiated sentence modifications for two capitally sentenced clients. She has worked extensively in direct appeals and Post Conviction Relief actions. She also works on CHINS (Child In Need of Service) cases and Juvenile Delinquency cases, Civil and Criminal Appeals and Criminal Defense. She is a member of the Indiana Bar Association and the Hendricks County Bar Association.

Ms. Johnson's article The Privilege Against Self Incrimination in CHINS and TPR Cases was the lead article in the December 2010 issue of the Indiana Defender. She was also praised in a published opinion, following oral argument, by the Indiana Court of Appeals for her advocacy in an appeal involving a claim of ineffective assistance of counsel

Ms. Johnson graduated from the University of Cinicinnati Law School Summa Cum Laude, 14th in her class of 123 with a GPA of 3.59 and was continuously on the Deans List. She was a Law Review Student Articles Editor and also won the American Jurisprudence Award for Constitutional Law and Criminal Procedure.  She graduated with a 3.95 GPA from Youngstown State University with a BA in Political Science.

Ms. Johnson's first career was in equine management. She graduated with honors from Ohio State University in 1984 with an associates degree in Equine Management, and worked on horse farms breaking, training and caring for horses until she returned to school in 1987 to complete her bachelor of arts and law degrees.
